July 12 - July 16th Criteria Workshop 5 days
Criteria Level Workshop:
The Criteria workshop is a deeper dive into the fundamental principles and practices of Operant Conditioning and
changing animal behavior. Timing, Criteria and Rate of Reinforcement as well as the process of Reinforcement will be
deeply explored and tested. Good trainers have great timing, and great trainers have mastery of setting and shifting
criteria when building behaviors. Students will be asked to apply behavior analytic procedures, plan training tasks,
evaluate behavior and set and shift criteria for simple cued and non-cued behaviors. Tasks will include training two
chickens to go around two cones (different colors) in different ways and to change their pattern of going around the
cones when the cone color is changed while the chicken is in the middle of going around the cones.
This is a 40 hour course given over 5 consecutive days and is comprised of lectures and hands-on training
using Leghorn chickens as a model to explore and apply the concepts presented.
PREREQUISITE: Completion of the discrimination level workshop. This class can be taken before or after
Cueing.
